Some questioned the selection of the officers too. Though all members of the crew perished, it seems the spirit of controversy has managed to survive!
There must be something deeper to this as already suggested above. It's funny that I watched the documentary to learn about the expedition, not to see who got top billing for telling the story!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873756940955163469.post-32781588643973920482015-07-17T17:16:50.872-07:002015-07-17T17:16:50.872-07:00Yes, it does seem very much like a pissing match -...Yes, it does seem very much like a pissing match -- but Watson insists that there's a story in there, one he says is largely independent of the documentary. I find it hard to believe he'd be throwing this fit just over the documentary unless it was touching a deeper nerve (for example, he might be frustrated over his perception that person X (whomever that might be) has managed to get a leg up on him).

Admittedly, my basis for saying this is purely psychological - it is an axiom that when people have stronger emotional reactions than otherwise make sense there MUST be more going on. In a case like this a rivalry or something similar (like a man who thinks he's repeatedly failed to receive his proper due and has finally had enough) is what makes the most sense. Only more data will solve this mystery, however.Alan Hochhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08112466487543830050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3873756940955163469.post-17548634716464214402015-07-16T15:20:31.827-07:002015-07-16T15:20:31.827-07:00A very good explanation, Russell. Importantly, your outline of how documentaries are made provides food for thought for the future, hopefully keeping some people from setting critical pens to paper too quickly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
